All students and teachers were recognized for setting high standards on their campuses this year and received awards for this honor. Congratulations to our Taft HS Greyhound Band and Trevino JH Whippet Band who were recognized at our school board meeting this evening! Both bands earned straight Division 1 ratings in concert and sight reading contests. We are very proud of all band members and the directors for this awesome achievement! #TPND

Congratulations to the Taft Ultimate Impact Winterguard on their community recital this evening! The audience had a chance to see their contest performance one final time as well as solo performances from some of the members. Parents even got in on the recital as their daughters taught them some moves.

Taft ISD hosted the San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera's Semi-Annual Safety Meeting (required by the legislature) at the THS Krumnow Center this morning. Law Enforcement personnel and Superintendents from across San Patricio County were required to attend this meeting to ensure the safety of our schools and communities in the county. Thanks to Sheriff Rivera for meeting in our district today! It was an honor to host this meeting. #TPND

Taft ISD 2024 Bond Update
Concrete pour for Area 4B was a success this past week! Thank you to all of our neighbors for their patience and understanding as we continue through the project. You can see the site plan develop a little further and the area poured this week will the entrance of the school at the end of Green Avenue.
Work will continue on the project on Monday. We hope everyone enjoys their Easter weekend! #TPND

This post is to inform you that the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is coordinating a statewide public warning drill to test emergency alerting systems today from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. This post is only to notify you of this drill and no response is required.
Taft HS Boys Powerlifting State Qualifiers competed in Abilene on Friday, March 27th and one of our Greyhounds came back with some hardware.
Sergio Leal Jr. came back the 2026 THSPA State Champion in the 132lb weight class for the second time in his career. He also earned awards for breaking the record twice in bench press, breaking the total weight record and for Most Impressive bench press in the light weight division.

Our girls basketball team made a historic run to the Conference 3A Division II Elite Eight. Our boys powerlifting team had 4 Greyhounds qualify for State with Sergio Leal winning a state championship. Our girls powerlifting team had 1 athlete qualify for state with other outstanding regional performances. Our Winterguard team returned to competition and placed 6th in the State South Zone competition in their division. #TPND

Taft ISD 2024 Bond Update
Concrete pour scheduled for 3/27 at the new HS site has been rescheduled to Tuesday (3/31) for Area 4D (cafeteria). Work will begin at 3 AM with heavy construction equipment and lights present in the early morning hours. Drone pics show where the foundation area has been prepared before this pour occurs.
At the baseball & softball fields, the foundation has been poured at the concession stand site and construction should continue as the restrooms and concession stand is built. Construction meetings continue to take place weekly to address any issues that may arise as the district moves through this process. #TPND

Congratulations the Taft High School Greyhound Band who earned all Division 1 "Superior" ratings in their Concert & Sightreading contest at Sinton High School today to earn a trophy for their efforts! Combined with the Ricardo Trevion Jr. High performance yesterday, both bands earned 12 straight Division 1 ratings in their respective contests. Special thanks to the band directors, Robert Valdez, Maximus Valdez & Jason Palmore, for their work with these students to earn this awesome achievement! Way to go, Greyhound & Whippet Bands! #TPND
Staff on all campuses in the district were recognized for Perfect Attendance for the 4th Six Weeks! Thanks to these Taft ISD staff members who made it a point to show up every day for their students and colleagues. All staff members received a free lunch in their campus cafeteria on a day they choose. Just a small token to show our appreciation for your efforts! #TaftPride
Taft ISD 2024 Bond Update
Another concrete pour took place at the new site for the High School in Area 5 with prep already beginning for the next concrete pour as well. The next concrete pour will be on Friday, March 27th, for Area 4D (cafeteria area of the site plan). Workers will be on the site early in the morning with lights and heavy equipment to do the pour.
Prep on the foundation site for the concession stand at the baseball & softball field took place this week with another concrete pour at that site scheduled for Friday afternoon. Walls continue to go up on the new gym and locker room areas of the new high school. #TaftPride

For the past 4 years, our district has used our staff development day before Spring Break to give our staff at all of our campuses and district a day collaborate with each other, recharge and hopefully get their minds ready for a week of relaxation. To address these mental health needs, we allow our staff to choose areas where they might feel comfortable to have a little fun.
Staff could choose to work/play in the Education Foundation golf tournament, go on a nature walk/hike at the beach or participate in Greyhound Camp sessions. Here are some pics from some of the activities that took place on Friday (see previous post for staff participating in golf tourney). We hope everyone enjoyed their day and wish all of our staff a relaxing Spring Break!
