Senate Bill 13 (SB 13) is a new state requirement designed to ensure transparency and parental involvement in school library materials. Under this law, schools must make their library catalogs publicly accessible so parents can easily view the books and resources available to students. It also requires districts to have updated policies that outline how library materials are selected and reviewed. At Taft ISD, we comply with SB 13 — our board policy has been updated to reflect these guidelines, and all campus library catalogs are available below the graphic. This initiative helps keep parents informed and involved in their child’s education.

You can explore each campus’s library collection by clicking on the Destiny Online Catalog link. No login is required—just select your campus and search by title or author. If you would like a record of your child’s library checkouts or have any questions, please contact District Librarian Adriana Lunoff.

At Taft ISD, we encourage parents and community members to share ideas for new library books. To recommend a title, click “Suggest a Purchase” and enter the book’s title and author. Please note that each recommendation requires a separate form.

If there are specific titles, authors, or genres you prefer your child not to read, click on “Non-Reading Materials” or contact the District Librarian directly. Your request will be forwarded to the appropriate campus.

For books you believe may be inappropriate for all students, you may submit a Reconsideration Form. This begins the formal review process outlined in the Library Policy Manual and TASB Policy.

Students who wish to check out Young Adult (YA) titles must have parent permission. The consent form can be found under the YA Permission Slip button. These books can be found and are labeled at the secondary campuses.

Lastly, the final two buttons provide a list of books currently pending approval.
