Taft Greyhound Nation—Let’s Fill the Bins!
We’re teaming up for the Peanut Butter Bowl, and we need our Woodroe Elementary Petty Pups, RLTJHS Whippets and THS Greyhound families to help Taft WIN!
Look for the Peanut Butter Bowl collection bins at the front entrance of each campus starting Wednesday or stop by the Field House for donation drop off.
Bring a jar (or more!) of peanut butter, drop into the collection bins.
Donate online at www.peanutbutterbowl.com – select Give – scroll for team - Taft Greyhounds (CC) – selection donation amount – submit donation
Donations will be taken until August 27th.

Taft ISD Bond Update - August 14, 2026
At the new high school site, auditorium walls continue to rise, roof work continues over classroom spaces, and the gym exterior has been painted. Once spaces are completely enclosed, interior work will take off.
The tennis court foundations have been prepped and poured. Work continues on the inside of the concession stand at the baseball/softball field. #TPND

We are excited to partner with Karnes City ISD and the Peanut Butter Bowl for our First regular season game of the 2026 Football season.

Thanks to all of Greyhound Nation who joined us on Friday night for Meet the Greyhounds! As Coach Riojas stated, it is a year of chang, but we're building for the future as all of our students are already working hard before the school year even starts. Taft ISD Bond Update--August 7, 2026
The walls continue to be built taller in the auditorium space with more work also continuing to enclosing the building framework. Welders continue to secure the steel beams at the front entrance before new materials are added to that area.
The ground framing has been completed at the tennis courts with foundation work to be started soon. The decorative brick exterior has been added to the baseball/softball concession stand with interior installations continuing.

Thanks to everyone who attended our Annual Backpack Giveaway and Health Fair this evening! We appreciate all of the businesses and organizations that came out to share school supplies with our students. Now we have more students who will be ready on the first day. Special shout out to all of the district administrators, staff, THS cheerleaders, and of course--the best social worker in the state, Katy Ballesteros! For the second year in a row, Taft ISD teachers and staff were given funds to shop for specific items that would benefit their individual classroom or school spaces! We would again like to thank our THS Cheerleaders and Greyhound Band drumline for celebrating these employees as they went on their shopping spree. Special thanks to the staff at the Walmart in Portland for accommodating our needs for another year to make the start of school brighter for our employees! We appreciate you! #TPND #AssembleForExcellence
The grand finale of our district convocation was the awarding of Teacher Incentive Allotment funds to teachers who received designation as well as their campus support staff who helped their students achieve the standards for growth measures. Teachers can earn either Recognized, Exemplary or Masters level designations which generates funding for the designated teachers, their campus and the district. Today, teachers and staff members at each campus were recognized and presented with checks with the appropriate allotments based on 24-25 student growth scores. Congratulations to all of our staff who were recognized and for their dedication to our Greyhounds, Whippets and Pups! #TPND #AssembleForExcellence
Our district staff returned to a friendly sight at the Taft ISD Back to School Convocation! All employees were treated to a breakfast catered by Rancheros and vendors were also on hand to share goodies for the staff to use during the school year. New teachers were welcomed with a $100 bill to go towards their classrooms for the year as well as 8 meal tickets in the cafeteria when school starts. Door prizes were also drawn for all employees at the event. Special thanks goes out to the Taft ISD Foundation who sponsored the breakfast for staff this morning and the $100 for each new teacher to use in their classrooms! A huge thanks also goes out to our THS Cheerleaders and Taft Greyhound Band for joining us to pump up the spirit at our convocation! #TPND #AssembleForExcellence

Enclosing the framework on the new high school campus continues with work on rooftops and walls. The taller masonry walls of the auditorium are also progressing and sectioning off the space.
The ground at the site for the tennis courts are prepared for the foundation and poles are going up this morning for fencing. Work continues on the interior of the concession stand as that project progresses. #TPND
