Before the regular scheduled board meeting this evening, Taft ISD School Board members and Dr. Garza signed a beam that will be used in the construction of the new high school. SpawGlass provided a steel beam that will be used in the construction of the facility so that their signatures will forever be a part of the new building.
Our Taft High School cheerleaders were also recognized for their leadership and dance awards that they received at their cheer camp at the University of Texas at Austin. Our cheerleaders were recognized among over 300 other athletes from all over the state for their skills, effort and spirit. Great job, ladies! #TPND

Day 1 of the retreat, themed "Greyhounds Assemble," focused on goals and strategic planning for the new school year through district policies and procedures. On Day 2, Campus Instructional Leadership Teams were invited to receive an accountability from Region 2 ESC staff and work through a deep dive of district assessment data.
The Leadership Retreat reflects Taft ISD's ongoing commitment to developing strong leadership to serve students & staff and enhance the educational experience for every student across the district. #TPND

The concession stand and restrooms continues to progress at the baseball/softball fields. Groundwork is almost complete at the site for the new tennis courts with construction to begin soon. #TPND

Taft ISD Bond Update--July 10, 2026
Walls are beginning to go up on classroom spaces at the new high school and roof work continues on the gym area. Walls and metal roofing are almost completed at the baseball/softball concession stand which means interior work will begin soon. Soil injections continue at the site for the tennis courts to prep the grounds for those foundations. #TPND
Work continues to move eastward on the high school construction site with more steel beams being erected along with metal tops being placed to form interior spaces.
Metal roof panels are also being placed on the concession stand/restrooms at the baseball & softball fields. Just to the east of the baseball field, groundwork is being prepared for the new tennis courts that will be built for use next season. #summerprogress #TPND

Taft ISD 2024 Bond Update
Roofing panels continue to go up on the framework as construction continues eastward. Steel beams continue to also go up towards that auditorium area that is now completely poured. At the baseball/softball fields, a similar situation is occurring as wall panels and frames are being put in place. Looking for even more progress this week with good weather forecasts and minimal activities in the district. #TPND
We would like to congratulate both of these teachers for serving as exemplary educators in our district each and every day. We would also like to extend our wishes for all of our teachers in the district to enjoy a safe and relaxing summer break! #TPND

District and campus leaders have successfully participated in the first design session, where teams began building systems and structures to support effective teacher mentoring programs. Texas Mentorship Training, a Texas Education Agency initiative, empowers districts to strengthen support for new educators, enhance teacher effectiveness, improve retention, and ultimately promote student success.

Concrete pour completed this past week for the lower level of the auditorium (in front of the stage location). Pours will be prepared for the slanted floor of the seating area. Steel continues to go up and you can now see the framework for the high school entrance at the end of Green Ave. Work continues on the gym and locker room areas on the west side fo the site. #TPND
