🩶 Taft ISD Bond 2024 Update 💚
Finishing touches are being completed at the baseball and softball fields. A reminder that these areas are still construction sites and only players with coaches/authorized district officials have access to the fields only for scheduled practices (baseball starts practices today). No other individuals are allowed in the complex during practices or any other times.
Foundation preparations and excavation continues at the site of the new high school. On Jan. 23rd (next Friday), a concrete pour will be completed on the west side of the site plan. To ensure work is completed quickly and correctly, this pour will begin at approximately 3 AM. Lights will be used to assist workers with this pour and large machinery will also be involved. We thank all of our neighbors in advance for dealing with this inconvenience as the project moves forward! #TaftPride

*Taft ISD Bond 2024 Update*
Work continued this week with the concrete pours at both entrances of baseball & softball fields. Posts are being set for fencing and staging is complete for the dugout furniture.
The high school site footprint continues to develop with plumbing/sewer lines being prepped before the foundation is poured. Work also continues for drainage at the site along with prepping the east side of the site for the next stage of work.
Thank you to all of our neighbors and community members who have adjusted to the construction traffic, especially during pickup and drop off times. We appreciate your cooperation and are working with our construction contractors to improve this process moving forward. #TaftPride

Our staff returned to school on Monday and jumped into new learning to start off 2026! Two great days of discovery learning for our staff members! #TaftPride

Huge shoutout to Heil Law Firm, Academy Sports & Outdoors, and Communities in Schools for providing brand new shoes for some of our students through the Kicks for Class initiative! Our Superintendent Student Advisory Committee met this week at Woodroe Petty Elementary to practice the gift of giving! They decorated Christmas cookies and made ornaments for special staff on their campuses. Our Greyhounds, Whippets and Pups are definitely feeling the holiday vibes!
Special thanks to Lightsource bp who visited all three campuses today with their "special guests!" They presented to students about the nearby solar farm and jobs that may be available to students in this field. Students also got to see their eco friendly "lawnmowers" who support their agrivoltaic endeavors.
