What is the Migrant Program?
The Migrant Education Program is a national program that annually provides supplemental education and support services to approximately 500,000 eligible migrant children nationwide to help them overcome educational disruptions and disadvantages, which result from their mobile lifestyle. The Migrant Education Program grew out of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act 1965 as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), which was signed into law on January 8, 2002, contains the major statutory provisions that apply to the Migrant Educational Program. The new law supersedes the previous law.
¿Qué es el Programa Migrante?
El Programa de Educación para Migrantes es un programa nacional que anualmente proporciona educación suplementaria y servicios de apoyo a aproximadamente 500,000 niños migrantes elegibles en todo el país para ayudarlos a superar las interrupciones y desventajas educativas, que resultan de su estilo de vida móvil. El Programa de Educación para Migrantes surgió de la Ley de Educación Primaria y Secundaria de 1965, modificada por la Ley No Child Left Behind de 2001. La Ley No Child Left Behind (NCLB), que fue firmada por la ley el 8 de enero de 2002, contiene las principales disposiciones legales que se aplican al Programa Educativo para Migrantes, la nueva ley sustituye a la ley anterior.
Our Purpose
The purpose of the Migrant Education Program as identified by Federal law is to address the educational needs of migratory children in a coordinated, integrated, and efficient way through high-quality and comprehensive programs in order to overcome barriers in education. Priority for services are given to migratory students who are failing or most at risk of failing to meet the State's student academic achievement standards.
Nuestro propósito
El propósito del Programa de Educación para Migrantes identificado por la ley federal es abordar las necesidades educativas de los niños migratorios de una manera coordinada, integrada y eficiente a través de programas integrales y de alta calidad con el fin de superar las barreras en la educación. La prioridad de los servicios se da a los estudiantes migratorios que están fallando o en mayor riesgo de no cumplir con los estándares de rendimiento académico estudiantil del estado.
