Taft ISD Names Principal at Trevino Junior High
Vanessa Sanchez brings experience in instructional coaching & data driven results
June 6, 2025 – Taft ISD announces the hire of a new principal for the 2025-2026 school year. Vanessa Sanchez has been named Ricardo L. Trevino Junior High School principal. Mrs. Sanchez has 9 years of public-school education experience and served in a variety of roles throughout her career.
Mrs. Sanchez, a Taft HS graduate, started her career in social services. She has served as a Texas Works Advisor for the State Health & Human Services Commission as well as a Program Facilitator for the Army’s Exceptional Family Medical Program. After completing her degree, she began teaching at M.L. Garza Charter School in Corpus Christi. She also taught in CCISD, Taft ISD and Gregory-Portland ISD, where she served as a grade level lead.
Looking for another challenge in her career, she took on the role of instructional coach at Gibson Elementary in Corpus Christi ISD, where she facilitated PLCs with teachers, developed professional development and modeled effective instructional strategies through coaching, practice clinics & data driven feedback to enhance teacher practice. She holds a BS (Psychology) and Masters (Business Administration) from Liberty University. She also holds SBEC certifications in EC-6 Core Areas, ESL and Principal. As an educator, she has led curriculum alignment, coached teachers, implemented PBIS strategies, and supported school-wide improvement efforts. Her leadership style is collaborative, student-centered, and focused on fostering a positive, inclusive school culture. She is ready to serve as a principal who leads with purpose, consistency, and a commitment to excellence.
