RE: Passage of Texas House Bill 1481
We are aware of the recent passage of Texas House Bill 1481, which requires school districts across the state to implement a written policy that prohibits students from using personal communication devices during the school day.
Our district is currently planning for implementation of this legislation that supports student learning, minimizes distractions in schools, and always ensures safety for students and staff.
A full update, including detailed procedures and expectations, will be shared with our Taft ISD families and community by July 31, 2025.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we implement this state-mandated legislation in a way that reflects the needs of our students, staff and school environment.
