Taft ISD Bond Update - August 14, 2026

At the new high school site, auditorium walls continue to rise, roof work continues over classroom spaces, and the gym exterior has been painted. Once spaces are completely enclosed, interior work will take off.

The tennis court foundations have been prepped and poured. Work continues on the inside of the concession stand at the baseball/softball field. #TPND

Taft ISD Bond Update--August 7, 2026

The walls continue to be built taller in the auditorium space with more work also continuing to enclosing the building framework. Welders continue to secure the steel beams at the front entrance before new materials are added to that area.

The ground framing has been completed at the tennis courts with foundation work to be started soon. The decorative brick exterior has been added to the baseball/softball concession stand with interior installations continuing.

Thanks to everyone who attended our Annual Backpack Giveaway and Health Fair this evening! We appreciate all of the businesses and organizations that came out to share school supplies with our students. Now we have more students who will be ready on the first day. Special shout out to all of the district administrators, staff, THS cheerleaders, and of course--the best social worker in the state, Katy Ballesteros! We appreciate you all for giving your time to help our students & families prepare for the upcoming school year! #TPND #AssembleForExcellence

Taft ISD Board Meeting--July 27, 2026

Before the regular scheduled board meeting this evening, Taft ISD School Board members and Dr. Garza signed a beam that will be used in the construction of the new high school. SpawGlass provided a steel beam that will be used in the construction of the facility so that their signatures will forever be a part of the new building.

Our Taft High School cheerleaders were also recognized for their leadership and dance awards that they received at their cheer camp at the University of Texas at Austin. Our cheerleaders were recognized among over 300 other athletes from all over the state for their skills, effort and spirit. Great job, ladies! #TPND

As the summer begins to wind down and we get closer to the 1st day on August 12th, a reminder that cell phones cannot be used by students on campus during the instructional day. We realize that students have had more access to their devices this summer, but the current policies on each campus will remain in place for the 2026-2027 school year! Thanks for your cooperation!

Taft ISD kicked off its annual Leadership Retreat on Wednesday at the Ricardo L. Trevino Junior High School Media Center, bringing together campus administrators, department supervisors and other instructional leaders from across the district.

Day 1 of the retreat, themed "Greyhounds Assemble," focused on goals and strategic planning for the new school year through district policies and procedures. On Day 2, Campus Instructional Leadership Teams were invited to receive an accountability from Region 2 ESC staff and work through a deep dive of district assessment data.

The Leadership Retreat reflects Taft ISD's ongoing commitment to developing strong leadership to serve students & staff and enhance the educational experience for every student across the district. #TPND

Taft ISD Bond Update--July 24, 2026

Walls and roof materials continue to go up as construction continues to move east towards the auditorium. More spaces/areas are being defined through this construction. The brick wall of the auditorium continues to build higher as it sets the boundaries for the performing arts center. Roofwork continues on the gym and locker room area.

The concession stand and restrooms continues to progress at the baseball/softball fields. Groundwork is almost complete at the site for the new tennis courts with construction to begin soon. #TPND
