Taft ISD is excited to kick off the new PREP Mentorship Program, Texas Mentorship Training in preparation for the 2026-2027 school year. Taft ISD is partnering with ESC-2 to develop strong mentorship systems to support new teachers, increase teacher retention, and improve student achievement.
District and campus leaders have successfully participated in the first design session, where teams began building systems and structures to support effective teacher mentoring programs. Texas Mentorship Training, a Texas Education Agency initiative, empowers districts to strengthen support for new educators, enhance teacher effectiveness, improve retention, and ultimately promote student success.

Due heavy rain forecasted for Tuesday (6/16), summer school classes will be canceled for Petty Elementary and Trevino Jr. High students. Taft HS students will report at 10 AM for scheduled EOC testing.

The Taft ISD Summer Feeding Program will run from Tuesday, May 26th, thru Thursday, June 18th, at the Taft HS Cafeteria for breakfasts and lunches. Parents must show proper ID to enter the cafeteria and children should eat the meals in the cafeteria. Contact Rebeka Guajardo for more information.

Congratulations to all of our Greyhound athletes who were recognized at the Athletics Awards Ceremony on Friday night! Athletes were recognized for TABC scholarships to seniors, all-district selections, academic all-district selections, MVPs, Most Improved and top offensive & defensive performers in all sports on the boys & girls sides. Our Taft High School Special Olympics MVPs were also recognized at the event.
Taft Fighting Heart Awards went to Aleinah Balderas for the girls. On the boys side, Jasper Martin-Belk and Michael Ortiz, Jr., shared the Fighting Heart Award. Overall Boys MVP was Marc Hunter Montemayor and Josette Aparicio was the Overall Girls MVP. Congratulations to all of these athletes for all of their commitment and success from this year! #TPND

Students were recognized for excellence in classes, CTE industry based certificates, seniors were awarded scholarships from local and state entities, and the top 15 students in the senior class were named.

Congratulations to our Taft HS Greyhound Band members who performed their end of year concert this evening! They played their songs from their concert evaluation performance and the first movement of their marching show for next year. They also honored TMEA All-Region, All-State, Most Outstanding, Most Improved and All-Around musicians.

Thanks to our Superintendent Student Advisory Committee members who helped by tasting menu items from Labatt Food Service at Tuesday's lunch meeting! Students from Woodroe Petty, Trevino Jr. High and Taft High School got learn more about the company and taste test pizza, breakfast bites, French Toast bites, Banh Mi wraps, hummus, hot dog wraps, donut holes and fresh fruits & vegetables.
