As the summer begins to wind down and we get closer to the 1st day on August 12th, a reminder that cell phones cannot be used by students on campus during the instructional day. We realize that students have had more access to their devices this summer, but the current policies on each campus will remain in place for the 2026-2027 school year! Thanks for your cooperation!

Taft ISD kicked off its annual Leadership Retreat on Wednesday at the Ricardo L. Trevino Junior High School Media Center, bringing together campus administrators, department supervisors and other instructional leaders from across the district.

Day 1 of the retreat, themed "Greyhounds Assemble," focused on goals and strategic planning for the new school year through district policies and procedures. On Day 2, Campus Instructional Leadership Teams were invited to receive an accountability from Region 2 ESC staff and work through a deep dive of district assessment data.

The Leadership Retreat reflects Taft ISD's ongoing commitment to developing strong leadership to serve students & staff and enhance the educational experience for every student across the district. #TPND

We do not want to rush your summer but many are preparing for back to school and we want everyone to have the complete list. Please be sure to provide a clear/transparent water bottle for your child. Water is the only beverage permitted in classrooms.

The Taft ISD Food Pantry will be closed for the month of July. Operations will resume in August. Enjoy your summer!

A reminder that Taft ISD is under summer hours for June & July. Hours are Monday thru Thursday from 8 AM to 4 PM. On Fridays, offices are closed.

As we transition into July, campus offices will be closed the week of June 29th. Campus and district offices will be closed the week of July 6th.

ESC Region 2 held a luncheon on Friday afternoon to recognize District Teachers of the Year in the region as well as Superintendent and School Boards of the Year. Samuel Loyd, Trevino Jr. High Art Teacher, was recognized as the Taft ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year. Naomi Moreno, Petty Elementary Special Education teacher, was also recognized as the Taft ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year, but was unable to attend.

We would like to congratulate both of these teachers for serving as exemplary educators in our district each and every day. We would also like to extend our wishes for all of our teachers in the district to enjoy a safe and relaxing summer break! #TPND

The Taft ISD 2026-2027 Student Dress Code was approved at Monday night's board meeting. Parents, please be sure to review the dress code before you plan your back to school shopping. More information can be found at https://aptg.co/4TVS1N

Taft ISD is excited to kick off the new PREP Mentorship Program, Texas Mentorship Training in preparation for the 2026-2027 school year. Taft ISD is partnering with ESC-2 to develop strong mentorship systems to support new teachers, increase teacher retention, and improve student achievement.

District and campus leaders have successfully participated in the first design session, where teams began building systems and structures to support effective teacher mentoring programs. Texas Mentorship Training, a Texas Education Agency initiative, empowers districts to strengthen support for new educators, enhance teacher effectiveness, improve retention, and ultimately promote student success.

Due heavy rain forecasted for Tuesday (6/16), summer school classes will be canceled for Petty Elementary and Trevino Jr. High students. Taft HS students will report at 10 AM for scheduled EOC testing.

The Taft ISD Summer Feeding Program will run from Tuesday, May 26th, thru Thursday, June 18th, at the Taft HS Cafeteria for breakfasts and lunches. Parents must show proper ID to enter the cafeteria and children should eat the meals in the cafeteria. Contact Rebeka Guajardo for more information.

Congratulations to all of our Petty Pups who were recognized at their End of Year Awards Ceremony on Tuesday morning! Students were recognized for making the honor roll for the semester, perfect attendance, Student Council and exhibiting the qualities of a Petty Pup! A few Pups were recognized for the Superintendent's Award (All A Honor Roll all year) and perfect attendance for the time they have been in school. Great job, Pups! Enjoy your summers!
