Taft ISD Communication Device Policy for 2025-2026
Taft ISD, along with all Texas school districts, are implementing policies in response to Texas House Bill 1481 which prohibits use of communication devices in schools during the instructional day. We ask parents to talk to their children about this new policy to prepare for the upcoming school year. Parents can contact administrators at Taft High School, Ricardo L. Treviño Junior High School or Woodroe Petty Elementary for questions about this policy.

Taft ISD Student Early Release for Holiday Break on Thursday, Dec. 18th! WPE will release students at 12 PM. Trevino JH and Taft HS will release students at 12:30 PM. Buses will run on an early schedule and parents should make arrangements if picking up their child at school. Classes will resume on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Students were recognized at last night's Board meeting for their achievements and participation in fall sports for Taft Greyhound Athletics and the Taft High School Greyhound Band.
The following students were recognized:
Taft High School--Athletes on the football teams, volleyball teams, cross country teams, cheerleaders, marching band members, region band participants and area band qualifier.
Ricardo L. Treviño Junior High School--Athletes on the football teams, volleyball teams, cross country teams, cheerleaders, 8th grade marching band members and region band participants/qualifiers.
As you can see, several students on both campuses achieved many successes as a result of the time, effort and dedication. Go Hounds Go! #TaftPride

Special thanks to Lightsource bp who visited all three campuses today with their "special guests!" They presented to students about the nearby solar farm and jobs that may be available to students in this field. Students also got to see their eco friendly "lawnmowers" who support their agrivoltaic endeavors.
