Board Trustee, Pedro Norberto Rodriguez, Sr., was elected to the School Board in 2004, and is currently serving a second term.

Pedro was born and raised in Taft.  Upon graduating from Taft High School, Pedro joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served for 10 years.

Pedro and his wife Patricia Ann of 31 years are parents of Veronica Marie, Marianne Sue and Pedro, Jr., all graduates of Taft High School.  Patricia Ann is the secretary at East Elementary.  Veronica Marie is a 9 year Special Education Teacher and is employed with Northside ISD in San Antonio while pursuing an M.A. in Educational Leadership at U.T.S.A.  Marianne Sue is a 6 year teacher and is currently teaching at Gregory-Portland ISD.  Pedro Jr. is attending Del Mar College.  Pedro and Patricia are also blessed with son-in-law Samuel Guzman (Marianne’s husband) and three grandsons, Samuel Pete (15 years old), Santiago Lasaro (10 years old) and Adam (5 years old) Guzman.   They are all members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Taft.

Pedro is employed with Sherwin Aluminum Company since June, 1984, as a Mobile Equipment Operator.  Additional duties include being a Shop Steward (Steelworkers Union Local 235A), Crew Safety Representative and a Certified Mine Safety Health Administration Instructor (MSHA), by the U.S. Department of Labor.

In 2006, Pedro was awarded and recognized by Sherwin Aluminum Company with the ‘Island of Excellence Award”.  The award criteria is for a person with 3 years service whose behavior consistently stands out as an example for others.  Individual must be trustworthy, respectful, helpful, self-motivated, diligent and punctual.  Must be a safety minded Team Player with an outstanding attitude

Pedro is a member of the Texas Motorcycle Rights Association and successfully completed the Texas Department of Public Safety Basic Motorcycle Operator Training Course and the Advanced Motorcycle Operator Training Course.  These courses meet or exceed the Education Standard of the appropriate Motorcycle Safety Foundation.  Pedro is also a member of the Mexican American School Board Association of Texas (MASBA). Pedro is a graduate of Leadership TASB class of 2014. Which earned the designation of Master Trustee.

Pedro enjoys spending quality time RVing with his family and cruising the highways of Texas on his 1993 Heritage Soft-Tail Harley Davidson.

Pedro’s first and greatest concern is the safety and  educational welfare of all students attending the public schools of his community.  He proudly serves the Taft ISD School Board with great enthusiasm and dedication.
